There's no reason for this event to occur beyond Butcher willing it into existence. Did he need to invite a seemingly random assortment of people to their new home? No, but he spotted an opportunity and seized it, and no one can say he's not a go-getter.

Besides, moving into a new house is pretty exciting, even if the geezers dwelling on East Sheridan aren't generally the sort to celebrate small victories.

All the same, by the time people begin turning up, there are snacks, and there's beer, and there's real alcohol aplenty. Someone is on grill duty at all times — these steaks aren't going to cook themselves — so the food is flowing. And, considered largely as an afterthought, there's an assortment of playing cards and store-bought games spread haphazardly atop the coffee table. Some are classy. Most aren't.

If music isn't your thing, maybe watch a movie in the living room [one that's definitely not been nicked from Kimiko's drive-in movie theater]. They've got the best of the best, The Twilight Saga's Spanking Dawn, horror classic The [Cock] Ring, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, a film so rife with latent horniness that Duplicity decided to leave it unaltered.
